Before writing a review, I typically watch a production in its entirety out of obligation. I could scarcely endure one episode of this. To see if there were any obvious tone shifts, I skipped a few scenes from later episodes.

This is, as others have pointed out, essentially a soap opera. However, even at that, it is a subpar soap opera.

To begin, the gratuitous quantity of fairly loud musical interludes was the element that most irritated me. To me, that’s a no-no. The music in a movie shouldn’t distract from the main point of the scene. If somebody has any desire to pay attention to pop tunes, there are better ways of doing that. Additionally, not many viewers are likely to be drawn to the music’s style. It sounds dated and cheesy to me, with old-fashioned vocals that sound like “Donald Duck” and vocoder tracks, among other things. I get the impression that I’m watching something from the disco era of the 1970s rather than a contemporary production because of it.

After that, a cheesy, fake romance. Despite their physical attractiveness, the two leads are given a lot of weak dialogue and appear uneasy and self-conscious in their roles. I was as captivated by the sex scenes as I was by positioning Barbie and Ken dolls. The typical viewer looking for sex scenes will go somewhere else anyway. I’m more interested in character growth and interesting relationships on Netflix.

I had to forego any upcoming plot twists in the subsequent episodes. There was insufficient content to keep my attention.
